Dear Disability

a project dedicated to fostering openness and acceptance around people with disability and their experiences

Shedding light...

on the relationship these individuals have with their condition(s) and their courage to share that part of themselves with others.

We aim to advocate for people with disabilities and artists with disabilities through displaying portraits of diverse individuals who are willing to be vulnerable and authentic with their life stories. The relationship these people have with their disability may be wrought with feelings of inadequacy, anger, spite, anxiety or confidence, love and gratitude. Wherever you are on that spectrum is perfect. Your story matters; you matter.

Please join us and engage in a conversation with your dear disability.

We want to see you and hear you.

Please write a letter starting with Dear Disability addressing the impact the disability has on your life, and how has influenced you as a person, and possibly art practice - 50 words minimum. Email the letter and some photographs of yourself for the artist to use to make your portrait to jana.brodkin@gmail.com
